Rawap 热瓦普

Plucked stringed instrument of Uygur and Uzbek ethnic groups.

 

According to legend, it originated in Kashi, Xinjiang Uygur Artonomous Region in the 14th century A.D..The folk Rawap in Kashi is made of wood and the front of the sound box is covered with a piece of animal skin. It is 130 cm in length, with 1 main string , 4- 6 resonance strings and 28 silk string-wound bridges on the stick. Its range is about two ottave.

 

The instrument is used for solo, ensemble and accompaniment. The exhibit is a popular Rawap at present.
